Officers on both sides were often forced to choose between loyalty to their own personal value system and loyalty to their commanders. The battle of Gettysburg occurred after careful planning by commanders on both sides. Many Union soldiers had never actually had contact with a black person. The North won decisive victories during each day of the three-day battle. The Battle of Gettysburg proved to be the turning point of the Civil War. Because of the battlefield’s proximity to the town of Gettysburg, many civilians were killed. List as many names of Civil War commanders as you can remember.
