Schell Elementary School Art Teacher Garners 2 nd
Consecutive National Award for Texas Art Educators Association for its Youth Art Month Scrapbook
Congratulations to Plano ISD’s Alisa Meli, art specialist at Schell Elementary School, who submitted the Texas Art Educators Association’s (TAEA) Youth Art Month’
Scrapbook to a national art committee, capturing a 2nd consecutive national award for the state’s Youth Art Month projects and programs.
A committee comprising representatives of The Council for Art Education, Inc., The Art
& Creative Materials Institute, the National Art Education Association (NAEA), and other interested parties reviewed the TAEA 2010 YAM report/scrapbook and voted to award Texas the “Award of Excellence” for outstanding participation in the 2010 observance of Youth Art Month.
The scrapbook highlights the incredible art programs and celebrations that happen in
Texas schools during Youth Art Month. The award was presented at the NAEA conference in Seattle in March, and the winning scrapbook will be on display at the state association’s conference to be held in November in Austin.
