Pastry for a Single Crust Pie
1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
¼ teaspoon salt
1/3 cup shortening or butter
3 to 4 tablespoons cold water
_____ 1. Mix or sift together the flour and the salt.
_____2. Cut in the fat with the pastry blender or two knives until the fat is the size of a small
_____3. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients.
_____4. Begin to add the cold water. Add enough cold water that the dough will form a ball
when mixed with a fork.
_____5. Roll out with a rolling pin between two sheets of wax paper.
_____6. Place in a pie pan, shape the edges, fill and bake.
