Albany Institute of History and Art,
Tuesday afternoon,

made." Professor Kirtland moulded a
piece of clay into many different vase
shapes, lie showed the evolution of II
"pre-Volstead, little brown jug" into a
cooky jar and then into a rose howl.
Professor Kirtland has taken no lessons in vase-niaking. During Ihe lecture,
Professor Kirtland said that he watched
a poller at hurl Edward a few times,
and then bought a poller's wheel to try
vase-making for himself. "One is his
nivii best teacher," Professor Kirtland
declared.

where they are attending the fifth annual conference of the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. They are William M. French, '2.9, editor-in-chief,
Thomas P. Fallon, '29, business manager, Louis j . Wolncr, '30, managing
editor, Margaret J. Steele, '30, associate
managing editor, and Margaret 1-1 enhinge, '30, advertising manager.
They
left for New York yesterday and will
return for classes Monday.
The NKWS is entered in the contest
for papers printed by colleges for
teachers. The NKWS took second prize
in this class in 1927-28 and third prize
in 1928-29.
When French reaches New York, he
will be attending the Columbia conference for the third lime.
