JOB SUMMARY: Manage the development and implementation of workplace literacy instructional
support activities.

1.
Plan, develop, design, implement and evaluate customized curricula training
proposals and final course evaluations.
2.
Perform workplace literacy skills audits and needs assessment for business,
industry and other organizations seeking to implement customized workplace
literacy/bilingual vocational instruction utilizing the Comprehensive Adult
Student Assessment system (CASAS) as determined by the local Workforce
Board.

3.
Develop class schedules and activities; identify off-campus training sites;
assist with business and industry employee recruitment; provide program
orientation and training to faculty on workplace literacy instructional
methodologies and CASAS class implementation and evaluation.

4.
Supervise staff and faculty at on- and off-campus locations, industry sites and
workplace literacy labs; provide coaching and conflict resolution between
students/faculty; and hire faculty for bilingual programs.

5.
Make initial contact with clients to promote and market customized
workplace literacy.

6.
Develop budget recommendations, manage approved budgets, monitor
inventory of workplace literacy equipment at industry sites.

7.
Maintain records and statistics to comply with guidelines and institutional
requirements.

8.
Establish and maintain relationship with local Workforce Board, community
organizations and educational institutions. Make professional presentation at
local, state and national conferences.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Master’s degree
EXPERIENCE: Seven (7) years.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1.
Skills/Abilities: Good organizational, communication and leadership skills; ability to interact
with individuals at all levels of the institution, including faculty and administration.
Proficient computer skills.
2.
Equipment Used: Personal Computer and other equipment associated with an office
environment.
3.
Software Used: A variety of spreadsheet, word-processing, database, e-mail, and presentation
software.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 10lbs), easy to handle materials.
Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties due to long periods of
standing, sitting, and/or repetitive motion.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Alternative or combined skills in understanding, counseling, and/or influencing people are
important in achieving job objectives, causing action, understanding others, or changing behavior;
and, skills of persuasiveness or assertiveness, as well as sensitivity to the point of view of others.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Job is performed in general office or comparable working area with occasional distractions such as
noise, interruptions, or congested work areas with exposure to some disagreeable elements.
