POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Culinary Services Team Leader Non-Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Classified C JOB SUMMARY: Assist the Student Culinary Services (SCS) Manager with overseeing Student Culinary Services staff by providing the necessary guidance to front and back of house employees for catering events, Dine “N” Dash Market and make sure hospitality needs are being met. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 40% 1. Assist the SCS Manager with overseeing culinary students and staff. Coordinate work assignments and ensure proper food quality is being delivered and efficient food production practices are being met. 2. Assist with the preparation and cooking of food for hospitality events and Dine “N” Dash Market. Plan and participate in menu development for events and daily operations of Dine “N” Dash Market, including assisting with food inventory, cash register, and invoices. 20% 3. Ensure safe food handling practices at all times. Wash cooking and serving equipment to include utensils. Maintain a clean and sanitary work station at all times. 15% 4. As team leader, understand and follow local health codes and safety guidelines and ensure culinary student(s) and staff are complying. Practice proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes. Ensure that customer(s) are served in a timely and courteous manner. Assume responsibilities of culinary services in the absence of the SCS Manager. 10% 5. Discuss Culinary Arts Program feedback with SCS Manger and assist with implementation of outcomes. 10% 6. EXPERIENCE: One (1) year experience in Culinary Services. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES: Must have a current El Paso City or County Food Handlers card. Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) certification preferred. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1.
