POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: EXTENDED TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Coordinator Recycling Coordinator Non-Exempt CATEGORY: Classified Staff GRADE: E JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision is responsible for establishing, coordinating and promoting district-wide recycling programs and operations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 20% 1. Initiate and maintain recycling programs (such as waste reduction or composting) to include project planning, implementation, training, monitoring and modification. Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. 2. Meets with faculty, staff and students to generate an awareness of and to promote campus recycling programs. Identify and apply for recycling recognition awards and recycling grants for EPCC. t Encourages district-wide participation in the recycling programs by annual outreach plans, media campaigns and presentations. 15% 4. Schedules and oversees the collecting, handling and delivery of recyclable material from campus locations. 15% 5. Maintain records on total and categorical recycled materials for participating departments. Stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of recycling and composting. 10% 6. Prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports. Compile monthly and yearly recycling data for comparison with previous years. 10% 7. Coordinate creation of printed materials (community flyers, brochures and recycling compliance tags). 10% 8. Effective: 7/15/09 Page 1 of 4 EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one (1) year related experience in establishing, promoting, organizing or managing publicity campaigns or programs for a major institution, community or business (such as recycling, fundraising, political or social campaigns). CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES: Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and eligible for insurability. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of principles, methods and practices of recycling and composting programs. Knowledge of pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations. Ability to plan and develop strategies and proposals. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively with others. Ability to analyze problems and develop solutions. Ability to organize and coordinate the work of others. Demonstrated computer proficiency in Word, Excel and Power Point. 1.
