Arts Infused Lesson (Theatre and SCi(;IICC) Ecosystem Madness Enumclaw School District How to use the arts lessons The Enumclaw School District Arts lessons are designed to serve teachers as an accessible classroom-planning document. The lessons are purposefully aligned with the 2008 state math standards as well as the 2001 art standards. The lessons are purposefully aligned to have an arts fundamental lesson taught first followed by an art infused lesson to be taught second. This allows the student to have an understanding of the art fundamental prior to a lesson where the concept is infused with the arts. Prior to teaching any of the lessons in this folder please read the whole lesson at least one time, prior to instruction. By doing this you will be able to identify the vocabulary that is in the lesson as well as the key concepts that are in the lesson. Below are the following components in all of the lessons: Grade level: The grade level is printed on the top of each lesson, except lessons that can be taught to all grade levels. Title: Lesson titles include the major concepts covered by the lesson. Enduring Understanding: Understandings for these lessons give students real-life applications that go beyond the lesson itself or the materials used in the lesson. These understandings are general and broad with timeless applications throughout children's lives. Target learning and Assessment Criteria: Target Learning and Assessment Criteria directly complement each other. The Target learning tells what you want the students to know and be able to do. The Assessment Criteria are the traits of dimensions seen when the students demonstrate this new knowledge or skill. Instructional Strategies for Teachers and Students: This section gives a play-by-play of the interactions between teacher and students. The bolded phrases help the teacher to scan the lesson, and to glance down at the lesson to know what to do next. Prompts are included in this section to reflect direct statements or questions to guide student learning. Embedded assessments are inserted so that assessments are a natural part of teaching and indicate points at which either the teacher or the student takes charge of reviewing their progress thus far. Some lessons include Extended Sequences for Teaching Strategies with even more detailed instructions. Resources: The resources for each arts discipline are located at the back of each section. Vocabulary: The vocabulary lists include individual concepts as well as techniques supported by a glossary.
