Request for “School Choice”
2015-16 School Year
NOTE: “School Choice” is offered to students attending a school not meeting Adequate Yearly Progress
(AYP) and is identified in a step of improvement. “School Choice” is defined by the No Child Left Behind
(NCLB) federal legislation.
 A student in a school in a step of improvement can choose to attend a school that is not in a step of
improvement. Stillwater Elementary is the only “choice” option for the 2015-2016 school year.
 The request for “School Choice” is not a guarantee of changing schools. The district has a limited
amount of Title I dollars set aside to pay for transportation costs for “School Choice.” The number
of students accommodated by “School Choice” is limited to the costs up to the set aside. If many
students are requesting “School Choice,” first preference will go to students meeting
Free/Reduced Lunch criteria.
 “School Choice’ is for one year only. Each year “School Choice” is offered if there are schools not
in a step of improvement.
