Disconnect Switches Functional Specification Guide D-73P Disconnect Switches PS008003EN Functional Specification for D-73P Disconnect Switches 1.0 Scope 1.1 This specification covers the electrical and mechanical characteristics of Eaton’s Cooper Power™ series D-73P disconnect switches. Product is per catalog section CA008005EN. 2.0 Applicable Standards 2.1 All characteristics, definitions, and terminology, except as specifically covered in this specification, shall be in accordance with IEEE Std C37.30.1™-2011 standard AC High Voltage Air Switches. 3.0 Construction 3.1 Blade - High-quality copper blade shall be silver plated to ensure long-term low contact resistance. 3.1.1 Blade must be formed in a C channel to achieve greater rigidity during operation and momentary conditions. 3.1.2 Blade must exert proper force on contacts without the use of springs. 3.2 Contacts – Switch contacts must be designed as full current interchange and be independent from hinge. The blade contact interchange must be designed with sufficient force to provide a cool running switch. 3.2.1 Latch side contact must be designed with blade stabilizer beyond the contact to ensure proper contact pressure. 3.3 Loadbreak Hooks – Switches shall be suitable for hookstick operation and compatible for use with portable loadbreak tool. 4.0 Installation 4.1 The disconnect switches shall be made for either single or double cross arm installation in an inverted or vertical position. 5.0 Production Tests 5.1 Switches shall be tested by electrical resistance testing at time of production to determine the flow of electrical current and how much of that flow is impeded. 6.0 Optional Features Terminal Connectors and Hardware Mounting Backstrap 7.0 Approved Manufacturers 7.1 Eaton – Pewaukee, WI 1 of 1 • June 2015 • Supersedes G328-10-1 June 2013 ©2015 Eaton.
