Flush Rivet Patch Project
Objective: Learn sheet metal patching techniques and practice rivet calculations.
Provided Material:
1. 2024-T3 0.032” aluminum sheet
2. MS20426AD rivets
Instructions:
1. Using a 7” X 10” piece of aluminum, simulate a 4” tear in the piece. The tear should run
lengthwise and centered in the piece.
2. Using AC 43.13-1B, design a flush rivet patch for the tear. Present a written version of
your calculations and layout to an instructor. Have an instructor approve approach before
proceeding with any metal work.
3. Create a flush rivet patch that meets the standards outlined in AC43.13-1B.
4. Complete F.A.A. form 337 for patch.
