WAUKESHA, WI, August 9, 2011 – Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) has finalized deployment of the Cooper Power Systems CYME™ software solution for distribution engineering planning. Pacific Gas and Electric Company was looking for a reliable software solution to replace their legacy distribution engineering planning software, EDPLAN. They were drawn to the Cooper Power Systems CYME software for the intuitive user interface, advanced simulation, calculation functionalities, interoperability with enterprise systems, stability, and evolution that only a commercial-grade software solution can offer. The total CYME solution for Pacific Gas and Electric Company includes the flagship, turnkey CYMDIST software package, as well as add-on modules for predictive reliability assessment, contingency analysis, and time range analysis incorporating Smart Grid data, and advanced project management. The solution also includes development of a tailored integration tool based on the CYMDIST gateway platform that is customized to extract all required information from Pacific Gas and Electric Company Generation Interconnection Services (GIS) system to create the most complete network model possible for analysis and simulations in CYMDIST. “We are excited about our partnership with Cooper Power Systems, provider of the CYME engineering analysis solution – which is well known throughout the industry,” said David Lee, supervising engineer, Pacific Gas and Electric Company. “We are already seeing benefits from this new tool in reduced time required for planning studies, and improved simulation capabilities for optimization and reliability projects.” -More- Cooper Division – Page 2 The CYME turnkey software solution is intended to be used by Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s team of more than 100 distribution engineers for short- and long-term planning studies, and for simulating the behavior of the electrical distribution network under different operating conditions and scenarios. Cooper Power Systems, a division of Cooper Industries, plc (NYSE: CBE), is currently providing CYME training services for Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s distribution engineers so they can become familiar with their new planning tool. “We are excited to welcome Pacific Gas and Electric Company to our user family, and we appreciate their trust in our CYME software technology, product family, and people,” said Mike Stoessl, president, Cooper Power Systems. “As we successfully complete the solution implementation, we realize this is only the first step in a long-term relationship that will lead to future engineering projects as well as improvements to our solution offering.” For additional information on CYME power engineering software, visit www.cooperpower.com.
