Cooper Lighting Products Honored with Three Best of NeoCon Awards
Cooper Lighting’s io® LED Balance Beam awarded a Silver Award and an Innovation Award;
the io® Koi LED Bollard Series also received a Silver Award.
PEACHTREE CITY, GA, September 23, 2011 – Two products from Cooper Lighting, an industry leader committed
to delivering innovative products and driving transformational technology in the lighting industry, were selected from
325 products as winners in the 22nd annual Best of NeoCon® Awards, sponsored by Contract Magazine,
Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc., The International Interior Design Association (IIDA), The International Facility
Management Association (IFMA), and McMorrowReport.com. The io® Balance Beam and the io® Koi LED Bollard
Series were each honored with a Silver Award. In addition, the Balance Beam was honored with an Innovation
Award – only one of six products bestowed with this honor. The awards were presented at NeoCon 2011, which was
held in Chicago, June 13-15.
The Best of NeoCon Awards 2011 honors new commercial interiors products in 40 categories ranging from
Architectural Products to Workplace Technologies. The io Balance Beam was awarded in the Healthcare categories
under the Healthcare Solutions category, and the io Koi LED Bollard Series was awarded in the Lighting,
Technology and Accessories categories under the Decorative, Chandeliers, Pendants, Sconces, Accent, Downlights
and Wallwashers category. Forty-five judges were engaged in the review and decision process.
“We are honored that our io LED products have been recognized by this long-running, well-respected awards
program,” said Mark Eubanks, President, Cooper Lighting. “We are always striving to develop products that meet
the lighting needs of our customers while also delivering on aesthetics and performance. The io Balance Beam and
the io Koi Bollards are great examples of that goal.”
The io Balance Beam is an ADA-compliant LED illuminated grab bar with Touch Sensing Technology that allows the
touch of a hand anywhere along the rail to activate the LED light inside the bar. Designed for patient rooms, the
Balance Beam helps prevent patient falls and injury as it illuminates a path to the patient’s destination. Constructed
of lightweight aluminum, the Balance Beam is available in standard and high light output in two color temperatures
(2700K and 3000K). The Balance Beam is wall-mounted with structural hardware concealed within the wall for a

clean, architectural look. The luminaire is an evidence-based solution that zeroes in on the daunting operation and
safety challenges that impact patient safety, nurse injury and the bottom line.
The io Koi Bollard Series is designed to deliver code-required illumination levels to all types of pedestrian walkways
while using reduced power consumption when compared with traditional light sources found in many of these
applications today. The series integrates io’s existing Plane steplight, Line .75, and Line 1.5 products into elegant
wood bollards offered in a variety of styles, sizes and finishes. Durable, sustainable and beautiful, the wood material
has a 25-year warranty and the LED light fixtures feature easy access for maintenance while utilizing a vandalresistant hardware. The LED lights are UL listed for wet locations with a 50,000+ hours rated life.
