at CIGRÉ Canada 2012 Conference
Cooper Power Systems Expert to Speak on DNP Protocol and
Exhibit Innovative Solutions for the Evolving Power Grid
WAUKESHA, WI, August 28, 2012—Cooper Power Systems today announced their participation in the
seventh annual CIGRÉ Canada Conference on Smart Grid Power Systems to be held at the Hilton
Montréal Bonaventure in Montréal (Québec), Canada, September 24-26, 2012. Cooper Power Systems
is one of the main sponsors of this international Smart Grid event hosted by Hydro-Québec.
During the CIGRÉ Canada Conference, Éric Thibodeau, engineer, M.Sc.A, and network protocol expert
at Cooper Power Systems, will present, “Introducing Secure Authentication Version 5 for DNP3,” coauthored with Grant Gilchrist, PE, principal consultant at EnerNex. Both Mr. Thibodeau and Mr. Gilchrist
are members of the DNP Users Group Technical Committee. This presentation will offer an overview of
the secure authentication mechanism defined in the DNP3 specification, highlight the differences
between versions 2 and 5, and present the DNP Users Group’s recommendations on how to migrate
from version 2 to version 5.
