As a result of a continued development programme, taking into consideration market requirements and the voice of the customer, Cooper MEDC has developed a unique product that combines the reliability, ruggedness and high performance of the DB20, available in an aesthetically pleasing ceiling mount. The DB20C range is suitable for use in harsh environmental conditions found offshore and onshore in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries. The DB20C functions as a lightweight and self-supporting option for any ceiling speaker. Held in its mount via a twist-fit support and locking grille, the DB20C allows access from above or below and offers first fit of either ceiling tile or speakers. In addition, the DB20C’s compact design will fit within a ceiling cavity from 135mm upwards (offering a savings of 38mm over other manufacturers’ products). The DB20C maintains a wide range of international certifications suitable for most applications including ATEX, GOST R, GOST K, IECEx and Inmetro. Some competitive products have traditionally been manufactured from cast aluminium alloy and stainless steel, as only these materials were thought to be strong enough to meet the required standards in explosion proof testing. This adds unnecessary weight to the unit, resulting in the need for additional support and fitting constraints. Glass Reinforced Polyester (GRP) used on the DB20C is a composite material made of a polymer reinforced by fine glass fibres. With this unique material, the unit has a combined weight of 1.5kg, (a savings of up to 2.5kg per unit, over other manufacturers’ products) This range of ceilingmounted speakers offers superior resistance to extreme temperatures and conditions, with a certified temperature range of -50°C to +70°C and an IP66/67 rating. -More- Cooper Safety – Page 2 Some key features of the new DB20C Ceiling Speaker are as follows: ATEX Approved II 2GD Zone 1& 2 and Zone 21 & 22 use IIC Gas Group and Dust approved BASEEFA certified GOST ‘R’ & ‘K’ certified Brazilian (Inmetro) certified IECEx Approved IP66 & IP67 Certified temperature –50°C to +70°C* GRP and Flame-Retardant ABS corrosion free construction Power tappings via integral transformer Tool-free mounting method 100dB (A) at 1 watt at 1 metre 100V or 70V line versions available Earth continuity available Lightweight at 1.5kg Low ceiling cavity installation from 135mm *Temperature class relates to ambient temperature (see datasheet for full details) Product Lead Times Cooper MEDC is a company that thrives on service and innovation.
