Cooper Power Systems provides reliable, innovative, and
sustainable energy solutions that improve customer system
performance while minimizing environmental impact.
The power industry is currently facing unprecedented challenges.
Confronted with an aging electrical grid, soaring fuel and construction
costs, increasing energy demand, and escalating regulations, utilities
need to find cost-effective investment opportunities to ensure stable
energy supplies and services.
In response to these challenges, utilities are searching for ways to
modernize the electrical grid and accommodate to the demands of our
digital society all the while reducing their environmental footprint.
From product innovation to advancing sustainable business operations,
Cooper Power Systems offers a variety of solutions that help our
customers provide clean, reliable, and affordable energy services.
Cooper can help increase the amount of usable energy utilities can
extract from their existing infrastructure by improving the efficiency
and reliability of the utility grid from production to end usage. We
are continuously working with our customers to help modernize our
nation’s electrical infrastructure and reinvent energy delivery.
Responsible Energy Innovations
Cooper Power Systems offers years of expertise in distribution
systems and networks combined with the spirit of innovation. We are
constantly searching for new ways to help customers save costs,
enhance operational efficiency, and reduce hazardous waste. Through
energy conservation and management, delivery optimization, grid
reliability and automation, and eco-friendly product offering, our
customers can enjoy a host of dependable products and services that
promote superior environmental performance.
Renewable Energy Expertise
As a nation, we are looking for clean and renewable sources of energy
to power our homes and communities. After the energy from the
wind or sun is collected, delivering this clean energy to the cities and
towns requires an additional layer of system support and solutions.
As a leading manufacturer of medium- and high-voltage electrical
equipment, components, and systems, Cooper Power Systems has
the experience and expertise to connect the green sources of energy
to the electrical grid. We offer an advance technology portfolio in
renewable collector system optimization, enhanced substation-toutility interconnectivity and reliability performance.
Sustainable Business Operations
In 1990, our parent company, Cooper Industries, formalized its
commitment to being an environmentally responsible manufacturer,
ensuring the highest safety for our all Cooper employees, while
promoting a responsible use of our natural environment. Today, our
lean business practices advance a relentless elimination of waste and
a persistent enhancement of customer value. Every day, we strive to
conserve natural resources, reduce waste in production processes
and decrease the materials sent to the landfills. By working with
Cooper Power Systems you partner with a truly sustainable supplier.
Responsible Energy Innovations
Delivering tomorrow’s
energy today
We help our customers reduce their environmental footprint
by advancing environmentally responsible energy solutions
and products.
System Reliability
Cooper Power Systems’ Energy Automation Solutions (EAS) group is
a leading provider of innovative technologies that allow electric utilities
to optimize their performance in the areas of Outage Detection and
Restoration, Advance Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Demand Response,
Smart Sensors, and Distribution Automation—technologies that are
critical to the overall development of a Smart Grid. We help utilities plan,
commission and develop successful programs that save money by
improving performance, reducing maintenance, and enhancing safety.
Energy Conservation
Approximately two-thirds of the fuel burned to generate electricity is lost in
the generation and delivery process. This means wasted energy and more
greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere. Cooper Power Systems’
comprehensive portfolio of energy efficiency solutions can reduce system
losses, boost operational efficiency, increase reliability and mitigate
greenhouse gases being emitted into the air. Using our energy efficiency
solutions to make system upgrades can result in financial savings for our
customers and improve equipment life expectancy.
Optimizing Energy Delivery
Many energy efficiency programs focus on demand-side management
through changing end-user energy consumption patterns. While these
programs provide many benefits, industry experts have long argued
that distribution system improvements are a vast and largely untapped
resource that can yield significant energy and demand savings. Cooper
Power Systems’ centralized power factor management system and voltage
optimization solutions increase power performance to ensure that electricity
is carried efficiently through the transmission and distribution lines.
Eco-Friendly
Our vast array of eco-friendly products helps customers minimize
pollution and the risks associated with environmental, health, safety and
compliance. We provide eco-friendly alternatives for dielectric mediums
that are good for our customers and good for the earth. Derived from
sustainable ingredients, including biobased seed oils, performance
enhancing additives, and synthetic esters, Cooper Power Systems’
Envirotemp insulating fluids minimize the generation of toxic products and
by-products while enhancing operational performance.
Energy Management
Cooper Power Systems is a leader in providing customer with the tools
and technology to implement energy management strategies and deliver
end-to-end solutions. Our proven and effective technology-based Demand
Response solutions shift peak demand; ease electrical system constraint
and save the utility and the customer energy. With our AMI solutions, we
provide utilities the opportunity to expand their system to include more
comprehensive demand response programs and build the infrastructure
needed to measure, collect and analyze energy usage and systems data.

Energy Delivery Reinvented
Building the 21st Century Grid
Often considered as one of the greatest engineering achievements of the 20th century, the electrical grid is the backbone of
modern society, as it powers our daily lives and activities. Cooper Power Systems offers solutions that enhance efficiency,
optimize asset utilizations, maximize reliability, and reduce environmental impact of electricity generation and distribution.

A. Collector System Solutions
Harvesting energy from nature is only
the beginning. We provide the products
and design expertise in collector system
solutions that help connect, transform,
and protect the renewable energy as it
travels through the electrical grid.
B. Volt/Var Management Solutions
Electricity is wasted every day as it moves
through a distribution system. Much of the
loss can be addressed with voltage/var
strategies. By improving the power factor
in the distribution system a utility can save
2,570,000 kWh per year, preventing 1,846
tons of CO2 emissions.
D. Voltage Regulators
C. Automation Solutions
We bring intelligence to the grid, creating
the link between distribution equipment
and the control center, simplifying systemwide automation, to enable more efficient
and reliable energy delivery services.
For an average size distribution system,
installing our high efficiency step voltage
regulators can result in annual energy
savings as high as 160,000 kWh, mitigating
roughly 115 tons of CO2 emissions.
E. Green Switchgear
Using Cooper’s SF6-free switchgear
will prevent the use of one of the most
potent greenhouse gases. One of our
green switchgear units can prevent the

use of roughly 30 pounds of SF6 which is
equivalent to 330 tons of CO2.
F. FR3 Dielectric Fluid
Transformers are occasionally damaged
by storms and accidents, or just simply
fail due to age, all resulting in hundreds
of thousands of gallons of oil spilled each
year. Biodegradable bio-based FR3 fluid
in distribution transformers is safer for
customers and the environment.
G. High-Efficiency Transformers
Everyday wattage is lost naturally as
electricity passes through distribution
transformers. By converting to our high
efficiency distribution transformers, an
average utility can save as much as
3,300,000 kWh in energy losses, reducing
CO2 emissions by 2,400 tons.

Demand Management
Implementing the Cooper Power Systems
Demand Response solution on as few as
8,000 home air conditioners can reduce
annual system losses by 51,000 kWh;
preventing 36.6 tons of CO2 emissions,
and saving roughly 6% of peak energy use.
Experience in Energy Collection
and Distribution
Cooper Power Systems has the industry’s
