a. Kent Core-None
b. Writing Intensive Course Requirement
WIC limited to courses taken at Kent State (memo from Therese Tillett). The
discussion of requiring WIC to be taken at Kent State included the importance uniform
advising because of some rejected substitutions. It was also discussed that taking the WIC at
Kent was the original intention of URCC. It was also discussed that the Articulation
agreements with local community colleges allows students to take jr and sr level courses at
the community colleges at the 20000 level and it is important that it is required that the
student take the WIC at Kent State.
A motion was made and approved to include the following statement in the WIC
description: “This requirement must be fulfilled at Kent State”. Motion was approved.

d. Experiential Learning Requirement-None

ELR –
• The non-course activity for the ELR is continuing through the process and it will be
able to be recorded in Banner.
• It was reiterated that single course sections do not have to go through URCC and
changes were made to the ELR section proposal cover sheet. The new paperwork to
go out to faculty on applying for ELR status will include the background and
definition of Experiential Learning from the document approved through faculty
senate.
• It was agreed by the subcommittee that this group would act as a review committee
and include constructive feedback on ELR issues.
