Minutes of the January meeting: Approved as written except for the addition of attendance. 3. Curricular Proposals a. Kent Core-None b. Writing Intensive Course Requirement WIC limited to courses taken at Kent State (memo from Therese Tillett). The discussion of requiring WIC to be taken at Kent State included the importance uniform advising because of some rejected substitutions. It was also discussed that taking the WIC at Kent was the original intention of URCC. It was also discussed that the Articulation agreements with local community colleges allows students to take jr and sr level courses at the community colleges at the 20000 level and it is important that it is required that the student take the WIC at Kent State. A motion was made and approved to include the following statement in the WIC description: “This requirement must be fulfilled at Kent State”. Motion was approved. c. Diversity Requirement-None d. Experiential Learning Requirement-None 4. Subcommittee reports ELR – • The non-course activity for the ELR is continuing through the process and it will be able to be recorded in Banner. • It was reiterated that single course sections do not have to go through URCC and changes were made to the ELR section proposal cover sheet. The new paperwork to go out to faculty on applying for ELR status will include the background and definition of Experiential Learning from the document approved through faculty senate. • It was agreed by the subcommittee that this group would act as a review committee and include constructive feedback on ELR issues. WIC – None DIV – None Kent Core – None 5. Other items a. Some 30000 level courses are moving to the 20000 level for fall 2012, but they are currently showing up on GPS as 30000 level courses this semester. This issue also applies for courses from the 20000 level to the 30000 level. b. It was noted that the DSCI course change below is limited to a change in prerequisite, per the memo from Therese Tillett.
