Call to Order: 15:30 II. Minutes of the Meeting of 7 June 2012: Approved Unanimously III. Old Business: College of Technology The following three new course proposals from COT were Not Passed as a Package because the important concerns previously raised remained unaddressed: Unanimous The following courses were tabled at the meeting of June 7, 2012; please see notes following each entry for comments. HRM120 Cooking Essentials for Non-Majors TABLED UNANIMOUSLY: The proposed course does not provide options for students with moral, religious, or other prohibitions for handling some food items (options need to be available to accommodate student diversity) and the proposal should be accompanied by a bibliography. HRM435 Entrepreneurship in the Hospitality Industry TABLED UNANIMOUSLY: The proposal needs clarification. The attached syllabus appears to have little to do with the proposed course. If different topics will be taught for this course, then “Topics in…” should be included in the title and catalog description. Additionally, the proposal is missing a bibliography. COT709 Introduction to Statistical Reasoning in Technology TABLED UNANIMOUSLY: The proposal does not indicate why this course is specific to technology. The course appears similar to other graduate level statistics courses and COT should consult with COB, COE, and CAS departments having existing graduate level statistics courses. IV. New Business A. College of Arts and Sciences CMTA The following 7 New Course Proposals from CMTA were Approved as a Package: Unanimous Requests for New Courses CTAR255 Stage Management CTAR268 Portfolio Development CTAR352 Drafting for the Entertainment Industry CTAR353 Digital Design for Theatre and the Entertainment Industry CTAR366 Advanced Stage Makeup CTAR368 Applied Design and Technology I CTAR468 Applied Design and Technology II The absence policies on the CTAR syllabi led to a discussion over the university policy on attendance and grading.
