The National Pan-Hellenic Council at Eastern
Michigan University is the umbrella organization for
the historically African American Fraternities and
Sororities. The NPHC's new member process
is called "Membership Intake" and varies throughout
the academic school year depending on guidelines
set by each national organization. It is best to
contact each chapter individually to learn what each
NPHC organization requires. You can also find more
information through the Campus Life web portal.
Inter-Fraternity Council
Eastern Michigan University's Inter-Fraternity
Council is made up of fraternities from the National
Interfraternity Conference. Recruitment is held
year - round for these fraternities in an "open" style of
recruitment. Open recruitment is where fraternities
hold recruitment events to meet potential new
members. This year, IFC will be holding a minimally
structured recruitment, where fraternities will be
holding a "rush week," for all of IFC recruitment.
College Panhellenic
Council
The College Panhellenic Council at EMU is made up
of eight sororities, both national and local. All of
the chapters that are recognized by the College
Panhellenic Council have a structured recruitment
process that takes place in the fall semester of
each school year.
