FollowingacceptanceintheEDLDmaster’sorspecialistdegreeprograms,scheduleanappointmentwith
yourassignedfacultyadvisor.Thepurposeofthismeetingistodiscussthefollowingitemsrelatedtoyour
graduateprogram.
PlannedProgramofStudy
Withtheaidofyourfacultyadvisor,developyourplannedprogramofstudy.Theprogramofstudyoutlines
thecurriculumdevelopedbytheEDLDfacultyforyourspecificprogramofinterestandreflectscurrent
accreditationrequirements.Electivecreditsthatmatchyourprofessionalgoalsandinterestsareadded
withassistancefromyouradvisor.
YourfacultyadvisorfilesyourprogramofstudywiththeDepartmentofLeadershipandCounseling,
RecordsandRegistration,andtheGraduateSchool.Changestotheplannedprogramcanonlybecompleted
withapprovalbyyourfacultyadvisor.Note:nomorethan12hoursoftransfercreditmaybeappliedto
yourprogramofstudy,andmustbedonewiththeapprovalofyouradvisor.Thestudentcompletesa

Ournationalaccreditingbodies,(NCA,NCATE,ISLLC,andCAS)requiretheuseofcurrentstudent
assessmentdatatoguideprogramdevelopmentandmeasurestudentlearningoutcomes.TheEMUCollege
ofEducationadoptedtheuseofLiveTextasatooltocollectandreportthisdata.Studentsarerequiredto
purchasethestudenteditionofLiveTextwhentheybegintheirEDLDmaster’sorspecialistdegree

Internship/FieldbasedExperience
Allmaster’sandspecialistdegreeprogramsrequireaninternship/field‐basedexperience.This
requirementprovidesthegraduatestudenttheopportunitytoapplyacademicknowledgewithpractical

Portfolio
AsaculminatingexperiencefortheEDLDmaster’sprograms,graduatestudentsarerequiredtodevelopa
professionalportfolio.EducationalartifactsdemonstratinglearningarepostedinLiveTextthroughoutthe
durationofyourEDLDprogramandbeyond.Specificguidelinesrelatedtotheportfoliorequirementare

ExitProcess
Aftercompletingyourportfolio,studentsarerequiredtoscheduleanadvisingappointmentwiththeir
facultyadvisorforanexitinterview.Duringthismeeting,yourprofessionalportfolioinLiveTextis
reviewedandyourpresentandfutureprofessionalgoalsdiscussed.Youarealsoaskedtoprovide
constructivefeedbackrelatedtoyourEDLDprogramexperience.
GraduationAudit
DuringthefirsttwoweeksofthelastsemesterintheEDLDprogram,studentsmustapplyforgraduation.
Yourplannedprogramofstudyisreviewedandarecommendationforgraduationismade.TheGraduation
