Homework Assignment #1
Due: Thursday 1/28/16 by 5pm

assignment as a file such that the filename is

I suspect that we’ve all be injured at one time or another. This assignment will focus on
musculoskeletal injury (as does the course). I’d like you to think of a musculoskeletal
injury (fracture, dislocation, sprain, strain, etc.) that you’ve experienced. Describe the
body part involved, the types of structures affected, the injury process as best you can
recall, and your impressions of the characteristics (magnitude, direction, rate of loading,
etc.) of the loads that lead to the injury. Also discuss what if anything was done to treat
the injury and promote repair and hypothesize as to what might have been improved.
If you cannot think of an injury that has occurred to yourself, or if you are lucky enough
never to have been injured, then describe an injury you’ve observed (finding one on
youtube will do).
This assignment should be 1-2 pages long, double spaced with a reasonable font size.
Please submit this assignment electronically (e.g. email) and name the file using the
format
“lastname firstname Biomechanics 2016 HW 1.docx”
(or doc, pdf, or whatever extension is appropriate for the file type that you use.)
Grading will be based upon addressing the items that I asked for. Spelling & grammar
will be considered if they distract from reading the content
