Worksheet for the Economics Major under the OLD Requirements
To help students navigate a transcript filled with a combination of new and old course numbers, we have
prepared this worksheet to check off the requirements of the Economics Major.
Note: Please consult the undergraduate economics webpage for additional policy details, especially
if you are using any study-abroad or transfer credit.
(1) You must take a total of 8 Economics Courses numbered 3000 or above (but not including
independent study or the honors program), all with a grade of C- or better.
(2) Among the 8 courses, you must take Intermediate Microeconomics:
ECON 3030 (formerly ECON 3130)
or ECON 3010 (formerly ECON 3010) [using ECON 3010 requires a grade of B or better]
(3) Among the 8 courses, you must take Intermediate Macroeconomics:
ECON 3040 (formerly ECON 3140)
or ECON 3020 (formerly ECON 3020) [using ECON 3020 requires a grade of B or better]
(4) Among the 8 courses, you must complete a Statistics and Econometrics requirement by taking one of
the following three options:
ECON 3110 (new course)
and ECON 3120 (new course)
or
ECON 3130 (formerly ECON 3190)
and ECON 3140 (formerly ECON 3200)
or
ECON 3125 (formerly ECON 3210)
(5) Among the 8 courses, you must take a minimum number of Mainstream Advanced Electives:
If you take ECON 3125 (formerly ECON 3210), then you must take at least three courses from
the list of mainstream advanced electives. Otherwise, you must take at least two courses from the
list of mainstream advanced electives.
(6) Any remaining courses can be either mainstream or specialized advanced electives.
Note: See below for a list of mainstream vs. specialized advanced electives. Courses marked ** are no
longer offered, but if you took these courses in the past, they can count toward the major.
