Stoney Creek s t r e a m r e s t o r a t i o n p r o j e c t your storm water fees at work February 2008 Background/History of the Project: In an effort to improve water quality in your neighborhood, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services (Storm Water Services), along with consulting engineers, Baker Engineering, are looking for opportunities to restore or enhance the stream channels that comprise the Upper Stoney Creek Stream Restoration Project. Progress Report: Storm Water Services is currently working with Baker Engineering to complete the Planning Report for this project. We are finalizing our alternatives selection by making choices for a preferred alternative for the individual stream tributaries. This process should be complete in the upcoming months. Next Steps: In an effort to determine the best alternative for the individual stream tributaries, Storm Water Services is coordinating with Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation. There is opportunity for stream enhancement through the parks which lay within the project limits. As the preferred alternative is chosen, Baker Engineering will move forward with Design Plans for the stream improvements and for water quality features within the project limits. It is that time of year when a chill fills the air and snow begins to fall. Sometimes, instead of snow, we get ICE. Next time the weather turns bad and your sidewalk is slick, spread sand to get a grip on that slippery walk. If bad weather strikes the area causing limbs and brush to fall, residents are encouraged to prepare debris to normal collection guidelines (limbs no longer than 5 feet in length and no wider than 4 inches in diameter). The storm debris should be taken to curbside. Do not place debris in storm drains, gutters or on creek banks.
