Ly o n C o u r t storm drainage improvement project February, 3, 2012 YOUR STORM WATER FEES AT WORK Dear Resident, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services held its second public meeting for the Lyon Court Storm Drainage Improvement Project on January 5, 2012 at Holy Lutheran Church. The project goals are update the 70- to 80-year old infrastructure, reduce flooding in structures and streets, increase channel capacity and reduce erosion. • Mr. Martin also described proposed alternative alignments along Hamorton Place, Tippah Avenue, Morningside Drive, and between Nassau Boulevard and Thurmond Place to divert water and ease the installation of infrastructure. • A question and answer session was held. Meeting highlights: • Project Manager William Harris introduced the project team, described the project boundaries, summarized the existing problem areas and proposed improvements. • Andrew Martin, engineering consultant with USI, explained the need for the project and gave more detail on the problem areas. • Mr. Martin described proposed improvements including a buried primary system pipe replacement, culvert replacement, and channel and bank stabilization.
