Sealing locknuts: Permitting the use of sealing locknuts on a PVC connector
that is installed in the side of an electrical panel above un-insulated parts.
After contacting George Walbrecht, UL’s Chief Electrical Engineer of Electrical Wiring
Products and researching many other electrical resources we have decided that it is
permissible to use the sealing locknuts on a pvc connector when it enters the sides or
back of a panel only. It will not be accepted if the pvc connector enters the top of the
panel. However, the locknut must be tightened on the connector so that it makes
contact with the panel and there is no gap.
In the future if you have questions on any wiring products you can contact Mr.
Walbrecht at 847-664-3126.
