Funding Status

In June 2006, City Council approved a five-year budget plan for capital projects in the City of Charlotte. The
plan proposed $85.2 million to be included in the 2006 Transportation Bond Referendum, which was
approved by voters on November 7, 2006. The Rea Road Improvement project was not included in the
budget plan adopted by City Council.

Rea Road Improvement Project
Funding Status
City and consultant staff will complete 90% of the design of Rea Road by spring 2007. Final construction
plans will not be prepared until funding for Real Estate, Utility Relocation, and Construction becomes
available. The City may consider partial funding for right of way acquisition if full funding is not available for
this project during the next 3-4 years. Staff will keep you informed of any changes in the funding plan.
Proposed Improvement
The Rea Road Improvement project will include two travel lanes (one in each direction) divided by a planted
median with left turn lanes at intersecting streets, and a right turn lane at Highway 51. The project will also
include bicycle lanes, curb and gutter, sidewalk, and planting strip on both sides of the road.
Project staff would like to thank the Rea Road area residents for their patience and support
during the planning phase of this project. We will continue to be available to answer your project
questions. Please feel free to contact:
