Proceedings of 23rd International Business Research Conference 18 - 20 November, 2013, Marriott Hotel, Melbourne, Australia, ISBN: 978-1-922069-36-8 A Review of Literature on Small Business Access to Finance L.A. Ntiso, P. Chitakunye and M. Phiri Access to finance for small business is deemed to be one of the prohibiting factors towards growth and development of small businesses. This challenge is facing both developed and developing countries alike. A lot of research has been done in this area, yet to this date, lack of finance continues to be a challenge for small business. What is missing in literature? This paper reviews existing literature to understand what have been done in research to address this dilemma. Although small businesses need finance more than their counterparts large businesses, we argue that for their own growth and development, small businesses will never be a market for commercial lending. Introduction of credit schemes by governments do not necessarily address the problem either. _____________ Ms L.A.
