Proceedings of 3rd European Business Research Conference 4 - 5 September 2014, Sheraton Roma, Rome, Italy, ISBN: 978-1-922069-59-7 SME Technology Implementation and Global Financial Impact Philip Charge Cloud based technology has become a significantly emerging global trend in the technology sector. Numerous software, hardware and service based solutions are being presented to organisations with promises of cost reductions, customer service enhancements and ease of implementation. SME organisations are one of the prime candidates for realising the benefits of this technology, however numerous examples of failed projects, unrealised benefits and overpromised outcomes abound in the sector. This paper tests the hypothesis that there is in fact an inverse correlation between company size and success in implementing technology including The Cloud. This paper proposes that SME companies could adopt scaled versions of large and enterprise company change processes to improve probability of success which would ensure better benefit realisation and improved globalisation of the SME sectors across regions.
