SIS 639.003: Media Relations in Conflict Zones
There is still room in this hands-on Skills Institute where you will learn to develop productive media relationships and
understand the role of public affairs during overseas humanitarian, reconstruction and peace-building interventions.
Students will also learn how to recognize a communication crisis and prepare for crisis and reputation management. The
course also covers management of press conferences, from planning to execution; delivering effective responses and
methods to ensure mutually beneficial exchanges of information between organizations and the media. Useful for those
building a career in all sectors of US government, international organizations and humanitarian NGOs.
Media Relations in Conflict Zones, taking place November 7th and 8th, will be taught by Stefo Lehmann, a renowned expert
in media relations, international development and the security sector. He worked a combined 18 years with U.N.
Peacekeeping Forces, the U.S. defense community and the former U.S. Information Agency, leading strategic
