His long career in public service includes serving as National Security Advisor for Latin American from 1977-1981. Jorge Castañeda is the Global Distinguished Professor of Politics and Latin American and Caribbean Studies at New York University. He served as Foreign Minister of Mexico from 2000-2003 and is now a columnist for Reforma, The Los Angeles Times, and Newsweek.
