WHEREAS THE UNIVERSITY RECOGNISES
the significant contribution made by
Bernard Kouchner
to humanitarian activities, particularly through his setting up of Médicins sans Frontières and Médecins
du Monde as well as his involvement and positive contribution to numerous humanitarian missions
around the world;
through his involvement in his country’s and international political arena and the formulation of his
doctrine that morality cannot stop at borders but should be “sans frontières” when confronted with
extreme wickedness;
through his scholarship and prolific writing particularly in the field of social and medical commitment.
