State Fiscal Year 2017
Training Announcement
The MassDOT Transit Unit is proud to announce the following training sessions for the
MassDOT Community Transit Grant Program for State Fiscal Year (FY) 2017. The
Community Transit Grant Program is the consolidated competitive grant program for the
following Federal funds (Title 49 USC Sections 5310, 5311 (f), and 5339) and State funds
(Mobility Assistance Program). The application period is scheduled to open on January
25, 2016 and close at 5:00 p.m. on February 22, 2016.
New applicants who wish to apply are required to attend one of the following training
sessions. Applicants who attended last year are strongly encouraged to attend.

Training Content
The Application Trainings will go over the following:
1. Online Application Process – Applicants must use MassDOT’s online grant
application system, GrantsPlus, to submit applications. This training will provide
an overview for how to access, complete, and submit the online applications.
2. Successful Grant Application Writing – Representatives from MassDOT will
provide an overview of specific things the review team looks for in a grant
application. This will aid applicants in determining the level of detail and specific
aspects of their project to include in the application.

Application Dates
Application Availability: The state fiscal year 2017 application period will open on
January 25, 2016. All applications and guidance documents will be available on the
following site:

Application Due Date: All applications must be received by MassDOT no later than 5 p.m.
on February 22, 2016. Applicants are encouraged to submit applications before the
deadline. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
