Create New
Opportunities
The University of Malta is delighted
to announce a major addition to its
portfolio of performing arts degrees.
In addition to the long-standing B.A.
(Hons) and B.A. (General) in Theatre
Studies, which enable students to study
theatre in conjunction with other
subjects, the School of Performing Arts
will be offering for the first time ever
a B. Theatre (Hons) that is completely
dedicated to the subject.
The Bachelor in Theatre (Hons) offers a
new focus on the staging and technical
presentation of theatrical performance. It
also includes all the study-units currently
available to students studying Theatre at
university.
The new Bachelor in Theatre (Hons)
programme offered by the School of
Performing Arts at the University of
Malta is aimed at giving students a wide
perspective of the practices as well as the
histories and theories related to theatre
and performance.

Perform New Experiences
The B. Theatre (Hons) offered by the School of Performing Arts differs from the other
Theatre Studies courses in having more practice-based study-units with a focus on a
range of essential knowledge and basic skills necessary in staging practices, such as
lighting, sound, stage design, scenography, prop-making, costumes, front of house,
backstage, promotion, as well as health and safety awareness.
Through specialised lectures, information seminars, practical workshops,
demonstrations, and performance work, students will be exposed to and have practical
experience in the major skills and processes involved in the staging of performance
events such as those for theatre, dance, and music concerts.
