There will be a three-year limit for work study students so that more students will be able to benefit. Both students and employers will need to request work study and will need to be accountable. Financial Aid will prioritize requests based on several criteria. This change in procedure was approved by SSC. In light of the recent medical emergency, Dennis asked that an emergency plan be discussed at staff meetings. Watch the active shooter video. Contact FPPO if you feel you should have a radio. Enrollment Services and FTTW program plans are due by December. Everyone else must have an update in December. The cycle has changed from spring to fall to match the funding request cycle. There were 350 eligible high school students. About 116 showed up in Aptos the first day of their registration and 50 Delta students the next day. Watsonville also had fewer students than expected. Students must use the new Concurrent Enrollment form and not the old High School Release form. The Student Equity Plan was approved at the Board last night. A new committee will meet to develop goals and measures for the Student Equity Plan. The deadline to spend funds was extended by three months and it is hoped to be extended an additional three months. • Jennifer Wood, Student Employment Coordinator was introduced. • Marcus Kelly-Cobos, Student Senator and ICC Chair was introduced. Sandi: Welcome Tables volunteers still needed; emergency loan applications will be available the first day of school. Anya: Lots of concurrent high school students are assessing; they are not required but encouraged to assess. Leslie: Outreach has been promoting ACE and concurrent enrollment. Assisted at the Watsonville Center with concurrent enrollment. 1 Ed: Prepared for concurrent enrollment in Watsonville; will debrief with staff regarding registration process and correct form. Karen: Cal-WORKS – 124 returning students; a job developer has been hired; interviewing for program specialist; working with county contacts on how to better serve students; there will be volunteer free tax preparation assistance on campus for those with an income of $56,000 or less. Tama: Personnel down with Celeste resigning and three staff on medical leave; phones will be answered at A&R beginning at 11:00 AM to allow staff time to work without interruptions but the windows will be open during this time. Tootie: First disbursement on January 22. Barbara: Catching up from fall and ramping up for spring. Rachel: Registration changes have hit Watsonville hard and there’s a push for enrollment; Solari partnership with UCSC. Margery: Five counseling positions open including one spring hire; high school counselors are being trained on how to do an educational plan; interviewing for counseling staff and Transfer Center staff. Laura: Of 90 disciplinary cases, they just held their first hearing; Borrow A Book goes live Jan. 20; graduation preparations are underway. Marcus: Student Senate leaders retreat on Friday; there are open Senator positions; looking for a room for AA/NA meetings once a week; senators will be going class to class to encourage votes this spring. Michelle: Flor is on maternity leave and Charlotte Achen is backfilling her position 17.5 hours per week; the Student Senate voted to eliminate 10% (dean) and 56% (Student Activities Coordinator) of salaries due to outdated language from the fee ballot; it has been an intense conduct semester – the flex workshop on student conduct is encouraged; the Student Rights & Responsibilities handbook will be updated this summer. Meeting Summary or Take Away: 1. Lucinda Roy, author of “No Right to Remain Silent” at Crocker Theater, Jan. 23 at 8:30 AM. Offices will close for the morning to allow all staff to attend. 2. “Registration Relay” is a last push for enrollment in Watsonville after the last assessment before classes begin. 3. Replacement of “Disabled Students Programs and Services” with “Accessibility Support Center” was approved for BP/AP 5140. 2
