• Discussion on how to assess programs; wait to include Student Equity
Director and Coordinator?
• Same process for new proposals?
• Where has most of the funding gone?
• Use funding for existing programs with remaining for new innovations?
• Each program should have a report ready for the director by the May
meeting.
• A task force was formed to create a reporting form: Terrence, Margery,
Katie, Barbara, and Jennifer Wood.
Michelle distributed a baseline of statistics from the Foster Youth Program from
which to plan and measure future outcomes.
SSSP Updates and
Budget Requests

Students and other members of the Multicultural Center group came in support
of a center, which is a high priority of students. It was suggested that the Student
Center (Use) Fee of $5/semester be changed to a Bond Revenue Fee. The Bond
Revenue Fee requires no vote, just needs to pass the Student Senate and Board
of Trustees and allows a broader use of fees. Space is an issue; where would a
center go? Olga and Jennifer Wood volunteered to be part of the group. Kelli has
started an email list serve. The group will report out at May’s meeting.
The SSSP Advisory Committee has been merged with this committee as part of
the college’s committee realignment process. There will be a standing SSSP item
on each agenda. Requests for SSSP funds will come here for review. All SSSP
services (orientation, assessment, ed planning and follow-up) will not just be
discussed and acted upon at this committee, as there are many decentralized
efforts going on now across campus (i.e., orientation: a new FAQ! “Ask Cabrillo”,
a new hire for orientation; Assessment: Multiple Measures work with PRO and
math; Ed Planning: counseling dept; follow-up: a new position to coordinate
efforts.
Request: Follow-up: Faculty working with high-risk students in a learning
community (ACE) are asking for funds to support their extra consultation and

plan design for these students’ success and persistence, Spring ’16 (at this point),
approx. $5,000. Approved.
