New Goals and Recommendations
Goal/Recommendation
We hired Trevor Nakagawa in spring of 2012. With a new
faculty member, the department is just beginning to work
towards realizing some of our other important goals for this
planning cycle.
Plan: Seek funding opportunities for the necessary equipment
Plan: Hold conversations/meetings with other departments to
explore possibilities
Plan: Work on finding internships for political science
students as a first step towards eventually developing this
program

SLO Assessment Progress: In a sentence or two, describe where your department should be on the Revolving Wheel of Assessment (what
assessment you should have done in the last year) and what was actually done. If not every thing was completed, explain why.
We completed the program planning process in spring of 2012 and so have not assessed any SLO for the last two semesters. The fall 2012
semester is the first one in which we’ll be back to doing SLO assessment. This semester the department is assessing Critical Thinking, one of
the core competencies and we will be reviewing our findings at our meeting during spring 2013 FLEX week.
