NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Cabrillo College Student Senate will hold a meeting on Thursday October 18 th , 2012 . The meeting time and location information is noted on the agenda. The purpose of this meeting is to be the direct representation of Cabrillo College’s Student Body.

Public Comments

This time is reserved for members of the public to address the Senate on issues not already appearing on the agenda. There will be a limit of five (5) minutes per speaker.

Mario, transfer councilor at Watsonville campus, encouraged us to represent at College and Career night on November 5 th .

There will be UC/CSU application workshop and an essay workshop, details to come. Please ask your councilor for information about the TAG form and which schools except them. And please stay on top of monitoring your credits; you may have everything you need to transfer.

This item is up for discussion / possible action regarding the approval of $300.00

from the Programs Account for the

International Students Scholarship. Last year’s senate approved this item, however, the purchase requisition was never completed and the student who was awarded this scholarship is still awaiting the check.

Town Hall Meeting Info. / Discuss. A. González 10 Minutes

This item is up for discussion regarding the Town Hall Meeting on Monday, October 22 nd from 2:30 to 4pm in the 450 Forum.

Voter registration committee has been working very diligently in bringing awareness to the propositions that weigh heavy on community colleges in California. We are hoping for more volunteers to help with handing out flyers, tabling for voter registration and representing the Student Senate. Lets wear out shirts to uniform and stand united.

Teleconferencing Meetings Info. / Discuss. N. Assaffat 10 Minutes

This item is up for discussion regarding teleconferencing our meetings with the starfish device to allow students who cannot be physically present at the meetings be able to listen in.

Bobby and Nadine are working together to facilitate better communications between campuses. Bobby is working on obtaining the equipment and working with other clubs with the ownership/responsibilities. This could help bridge the gap between Watsonville and Aptos students. During college week State Universities were using this form of communication for their tours for distant students. Stage one (1) will begin next Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. with a test run of the equipment and if we are able to establish communication with Watsonville

Sustainability Events Info. / Discuss. B. Buckter 10 Minutes

This item is up for discussion regarding sustainability events.

 There is a file in dropbox with the club’s meeting material. The idea behind these events is to have student all over

California to become involved in sustainability. The students’ proposals and resolutions are taken into consideration.

Karen Groppi, Advisor for sustainability recommended exploring the links that are available for reference. Contact

Bobby Buckter for more information.

This item is up for discussion regarding the College-Wide Support Grants.

Abby: P.R. committee will not meet this week. Business cards are available and the 10 shirts are on their way.

Tana: SLO presented on theft problems and theft problems.

Cedar: Buttons are ready to wear.

Nadine: Social Justice committee partnered with Global Politics club planning for the M.L.K. event. The event is planed for the third (3 rd ) Wednesday in February. Please share your input. Future meeting times will be announced.

Laura: remember your Student Health facility is there to offer help with counseling services, reproductive services and minor cold symptoms. There is discussion about them moving to a location on campus with more privacy.
