This time is reserved for members of the public to address the Senate on issues not already appearing on the agenda.
There will be a limit of five (5) minutes per speaker.
i.
Mario (Cabrillo College counsellor) would like to thanks the Student Senate for responding quickly during last
week’s craziness. The Student Senate responded with inspiring leadership and helped get students off campus.
Furthermore, Mario is currently an advisor to the Suenos club and they will be having a mother’s day celebration,
so they will be coming to the Senate next week for funding.
ii.
Yaming and Jackie commented about the Social Justice Conference which will be held on April 20 th, 2013. They

This item is up for discussion / possible action regarding the approval of $4,500.00 from the Programs Account to
pay for Student Activity Card Discounts for VAPA Performances.

This money will be used to cover the Discounts that the VAPA department has given and will give for the rest of
the year. At the beginning of this year, we only allocated $4500 for the Music, Drama and Dance allocations, but
with new data, this money is not enough. Although we have made accommodations for next year, we have to
take care of this year.
Darwin moved to approve $4500.00 from the Programs Account to pay for Student Activity Card
Discounts for the VAPA performances.
Laurence seconded the motion.
Motion passed 10/0/1.

15 Minutes
This item is up for discussion / possible action regarding the Student Senate sponsoring a Ted Talk Salon on
Campus.

If the Student Senate sponsored this event, it would be considered a school event and we would need to show
up. It would need to be a majority vote. There wouldn’t be a profit. The event would be collecting donations
which will probably be given to the Student Senate. The event would be a block time during the day. The event
will consist of multiple speakers online.
Carter moves that the Student Senate sponsors the next TedX salon on campus.
Rory seconded the motion.
Motion passes 10/0/1.
