Mario (Cabrillo College counsellor) would like to thanks the Student Senate for responding quickly during last week’s craziness. The Student Senate responded with inspiring leadership and helped get students off campus. Furthermore, Mario is currently an advisor to the Suenos club and they will be having a mother’s day celebration, so they will be coming to the Senate next week for funding. ii. Yaming and Jackie commented about the Social Justice Conference which will be held on April 20 th, 2013. They still haven’t confirmed who the student speaker is yet, so please contact them back. Constantino 15 Minutes This item is up for discussion / possible action regarding the approval of $4,500.00 from the Programs Account to pay for Student Activity Card Discounts for VAPA Performances. This money will be used to cover the Discounts that the VAPA department has given and will give for the rest of the year. At the beginning of this year, we only allocated $4500 for the Music, Drama and Dance allocations, but with new data, this money is not enough. Although we have made accommodations for next year, we have to take care of this year. Cornett 10 Minutes This item is up for discussion / possible action regarding the approval of $520.00 from the Programs Account for bills from the SAC Talent Show that was held last month. This funding will be used to pay for the bill for the SAC Talent Show that took place in the Crocker Theatre. $65 was given in donations and already deposited into the Programs account. Ted Talks Salon Info. / Action C. Frost 15 Minutes This item is up for discussion / possible action regarding the Student Senate sponsoring a Ted Talk Salon on Campus. If the Student Senate sponsored this event, it would be considered a school event and we would need to show up. It would need to be a majority vote. There wouldn’t be a profit. The event would be collecting donations which will probably be given to the Student Senate. The event would be a block time during the day. The event will consist of multiple speakers online.
