This activity helps to avoid unnecessary duplication and pool resources to accelerate work in the area of ICT&CC standards. 3 Activity Report 3.1 Kochi Meeting It took place on 9 December 2014 at Kochi, India and was collocated with ITU-T SG5 meeting. At this meeting gave an update on SG5 activities. Other updates were provided to further cooperation with SDOs and other organizations. His presentation summarised the details given on the slide set. “Liaison report from ISO/IEC JTC 1” also by Osamu Namikawa SC39. His presentations summarised the details given on the slide sets. Ahmed Zeddam commented that there have been lots of common issues with SC39. ITU-T SG5 will continue to try to set up good collaborations. “ITU-T SG5 Regional Group for the Arab Region (SG5 RG-ARB)” by SG5 ViceChairman, Nasser Saleh Al Marzouqi. He reported verbally on the outcome of the Arab Regional meeting held on 25 November 2014 in Kuwait City. He said that, on behalf of the regional group, he would be providing a Development Action Plan concerning Environment and Climate Change based on the resolutions and outcomes of WTSA-12, PP-14 and WTDC-14 Conferences. This would be aimed at satisfying needs of developing countries and would be presented to the SG5 plenary meeting of SG5. Ahmed Zeddam agreed that this would make a useful contribution to the forthcoming SG5 plenary meeting. Cristina Bueti (ITU) gave an update on forthcoming activities. 4 Announcement of Closure of the JCA and review of Main Achievements It is proposed to announce the closure of this JCA at its Seventeenth meeting on 14 October 2015, Geneva having completed 5 years of operation. Since its first meeting on 14 October 2009, the meeting has attracted both online and remote participation: 11 meetings included both online and remote participation 3 were face-to-face only and 2 were online only. Co-ordination has been across ITU groups including specialist groups in: ITU-T, ITU-R, ITU-D and their secretariats. This has included focus groups such as FG-DR&NRR, and regional groups such as ‘The Regional Group for the Arab States’. External SDOs included reports from specialist groups in: ISO, IEC, IEEE, ETSI, CEN/CENELEC External organisations and partnerships represented included: GeSI, EC, EC-JRC, UNFCCC, Green Digital Charter, Green Touch, BBC, Telefonica, EBU, The Climate Group, Goal Zero, Partnership for Sustainable Development, CITEL, Green ICT Forum, and IEA Research organisations: Universities of Cyprus, Bath and Manchester; “EARTH” Project, “Operanet” Project and Mandat. -3JCA-ICTCC-141 It is considered by the chairmen that the meeting has met its objectives. To co-ordinate activity on ICT & CC across ITU-T Study Groups, ITU-R and ITU-D and to seek co-operation from external bodies working in the field of ICT & CC Reduce unnecessary duplication and pool resources to accelerate work in the area of ICT&CC standards. The main achievements were: Acting as an independent interest group hosted by ITU-T with free participation for members and non-members to encourage a free exchange of information Identification of organisations sharing same interests and a contact person to act as a communication channel Presentations from interested groups to provide an overview of their activities Act as a springboard for closer cooperation between groups’ activities: for example, on agreeing a common methodology. 5 Support We are grateful to TSB for the support given to this activity. This included facilities for e-meetings and additional coordination as a follow up to the JCA.
