STUDENT LETTER: PHYSICAL SCIENCE Hello LQ Students and welcome to Room 333! My name is Mrs. Tang and I will be your tour guide into the wonders and workings of our natural world for the 2015-16 school year. My hope is that this class will 1) deepen your appreciation of our amazing planet and the realm of human discovery, and, 2) motivate you to pursue scientific study as a college major or career field. You may be wondering what you will be learning in this class: Physical Science is essentially an Earth Science class with a small amount chemistry, physics, and environmental studies added in…think 8th grade science but in much more detail. There is also a major unit on astronomy second semester to further explore our universe. As you learn, you will sharpen your investigative skills and academic language skills through laboratory work and projects. Most importantly, we’ll have some fun along the way! In order to create and maintain a positive learning environment for everyone, behavioral expectations must be set and abided by. In this first week, we will be going over the course syllabus and rehearsing our classroom routines. You’ll also be required to have your parents sign an acknowledgement page to make sure that they know everything that is expected of you in this class. If you have any questions as we review these documents, please ask! Lastly, I’d like to share a simple equation that is my motto for learning (and life), and serves as the simple formula for success in my classroom: EFFORT = RESULTS If you put forth an honest effort in your studies, you will see positive results! Here’s to a great year! Mrs. Tang Room 333 mtang@ggusd.us
