Introductory paragraph background information introductory statement counterargument (usually CM)

Introductory paragraph:
1. Choose one or two of the following: 1 sentence of introductory statement, hook,
background information (CDs + MLA documentation) AND/OR addressing the opposition:
counterargument (usually CM)
2. Thesis (opinion statement)
NOTES:
1. LIMIT CDs in intro
2. No rhetorical questions
3. Add strong, connotative words and rhetorical devices
4. TOTAL = 2-3 sentences. NO MORE!!!!
Conclusion:
1. Restate (not repeat) your position/ opinion statement
2. Summarize your reasons
3. Call to action: Call your readers to action by telling them what they can do to make a
difference and support your position!
NOTES:
1. Say something MORE or BEYOND!!! Just remind your reader that you proved your
point, then tell them what you want them to DO with the information
2. TOTAL= 2-4 sentences at MOST!!!!!!
3. NO questions or evidence!!!!
* include a minimum of two different types of appeals (emotional, ethical, logical)
* include a minimum of one example of repetition or parallelism (X3)
* include a minimum of one example of a rhetorical question
*include loaded words with strong connotation!
* avoid logical fallacies and propaganda techniques (125).
* NOTE: You may include more appeals and rhet.devices to be more persuasive!
