Conlay Email: mconlay@ggusd.us COURSE DESCRIPTION AND OVERVIEW This is the second course in the college preparation sequence. Students who complete this course satisfactorily will be prepared to take Algebra 2 the following year. The following syllabus will help inform you of my classroom expectations and serve as a reference for the following year. Please discuss the entire content with your parents and have the syllabus signed and returned by this Friday. STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES Regular Attendance in Class Students Should Bring the Following Supplies DAILY: o Textbook o Pencils, Pens, and Paper o Protractor and Compass o Scientific Calculator for Trig Assignments will be checked daily No late work Accepted with the exception of make-up work GRADING SCALE A 90% and higher B 80% – 89% C 70% – 79% D 60% – 69% F 59% and lower GRADING CATEGORIES Assignments (Practice) = 10% of semester grade Quizzes, Projects (Formative Assessments) = 20% of semester grade Tests*, Final Exam (Summative Assessments) = 70% of semester grade *You will be allowed to retake ONE test per quarter. The maximum score you may earn on a retake is 70%. WHAT TO EXPECT Students begin each class with a warm up activity to review previous lessons. Students will take notes during class. These notes may be used for quizzes. They are also invaluable when studying for exams. Exams are usually given at the end of a chapter. Quizzes are usually given every 2-3 sections. You are required to have this syllabus signed by FRIDAY.
