Culture, Business, and the Environment
Shanghai is on China's east coast and houses the largest population in any Chinese city. It is renowned for its
historical landmarks such as The Bund, City God Temple and Yu Garden. In addition to Shanghai's unmistakable
Luijazui skyline pictured below, Shanghai, city "upon the sea," also boast world class museums such as the Shanghai
Museum and the China Art Museum. Students will experience and live the culture while learning about business and
the environment in China. Can you imagine all of the possibilities?

This course is an intensive summer cultural study
abroad in Shanghai! Students will enroll in a 4week in country program that will delight all of
the senses. The program affords students the
opportunity to learn about business and the
environment while being immersed in the culture
of modern China. The program explores the
interplay of culture and business as well as how
they
influence
perceptions
about
the
environment.

Language
Although the activities are
conducted in English, this may be a
great time to learn or brush up on
your Chinese.
Take a course at NCC!
Transportation
Students will fly from New York,
Newark, or Philadelphia to China.
Students will travel with faculty and
other students as from the college.
The group will depart from the NCC
main campus.
Accommodation
Students will live in hostels while
in Shanghai
Meals
Some breakfast and dinners are
included in this trip. Students are
additionally responsible for food on
days of travel.
Faculty
Christine Pense is the Dean of Humanities and Social
Sciences. Her first job after college was teaching English
in China, and she has loved living, traveling and teaching
abroad ever since. She enjoys introducing students to
new cultures and is always looking to learn something
new herself.
