Study Abroad: Spain Summer Session Travel Dates May 28th - June 11th Architecture and the City This course is taught primarily on-site in Barcelona and Madrid. It includes in-person observations to provide an understanding of the architecture of Barcelona and Madrid. Students will explore a variety of architectural styles and periods that continue to influence design throughout the world. Representative projects include monuments, outdoor spaces, museums, civic and religious buildings, in addition to historic and contemporary structures. This course is a study of architectural design and styles situated in an urban context. Students will be required to prepare onsite sketches, photographs, or video with a reflective journal for each day of experiences during the two week study. S pain-Not only does Spain have a rich cultural heritage, a majestic blend of architecture styles, and internationally recognized museums and cathedrals. Spain’s universities are world famous for their foreign language centers, making it an ideal country for Spanish language immersion. Spain has something to offer for everyone studying abroad, whether you want to experience the cultural flavors of the Tapas bars, explore the diverse neighborhoods or simply take in the breathtaking city views. Youtube Transportation Students will fly from New York, Newark, or Philadelphia to Spain. Students will travel with faculty and other students from the college as a group. Accommodation Students will stay in a Madrid and Barcelona hostel. Meals- Breakfast and Lunch (Included) Additional meals, except meals on travel days, are included in this program. Daniel Ebner is an Assistant Professor of Architecture and Interior Design at Northampton Community College since 2000. He holds degrees in both Architecture and Fine Art. Professor Ebner has studied Art and Architecture as well as lead students on trips to Spain, Italy and the UK. He is a practicing professional Architect and manages his own small firm in Allentown, Pennsylvania. His interests center on improving our students understanding of Design, Art and Architecture with a Global and Experiential perspective. Professor Ebner’s love for travel began in college while studying Architecture in Rome and continues to drive him to learning about Art and Architecture abroad and beyond.
