Palmer ’77 This past year was one of transition for the College and for the Foundation. After 37 years of service to the College, many of those as executive director of the Foundation, Susan Kubik retired in June, alongside her husband NCC President Arthur Scott. While the two have spent most of their professional careers at Northampton and will be missed, we warmly welcome their successors, Dr. Mark Erickson as president and Ms. Sherri Jones as the Foundation’s new executive director. Many of you might remember Sherri, who nine years ago served as NCC’s director of alumni affairs and the annual fund, before going to Lafayette College as director of alumni affairs. This year was also very productive. In one short year, our capital campaign for the soon to be built Monroe Campus completed and exceeded its $5 million goal. Entitled “Building Dreams and a Bright Future, Our Monroe Campus: Right Time, Right Place,” The campaign was chaired by Foundation Board members Chuck Hannig and Steve Sheptak, plus Len Lavenda of Sanofi Pasteur. This year also marked the first occasion we were able to see the fruits of our labor when, in April, Dr. Doris Kearns Goodwin gave the inaugural lecture in our NEH Challenge grant series. While we have until July of 2013 to meet our $1.6 million goal, we expect to have completed the campaign this August when the proceeds of the Lehigh Valley Food and Wine Festival close the remaining $72,000 gap. In April we also renamed a long standing fixture of our special events calendar, the Chef in Residence program, after its founder Bob Wood. Going forward the event will be known as the Robert C. Wood Chef in Residence program. We continue to be thankful to our many supporters in the Lehigh Valley and Monroe communities who have enabled the NCC Foundation to continue its mission of supporting the College and its students and who, in the process, have made the Foundation one of the top performing community college foundations in the country.
