SINE sis / ba ’ 76 Jeff Sine is cofounder and partner of the Raine Group, a global merchant bank focused exclusively on the technology, media, and telecommunications industries with offices in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Shanghai, and London. He is a board member of each of Raine’s growth and venture equity funds as well as its hedge fund. He is also a board member of Parchment, Inc., Reigning Champs, Inc., and OpenMail, Inc., portfolio companies of Raine. Prior to founding Raine, Sine was vice chairman and global head of technology, media, and telecom investment banking at UBS Investment Bank. He joined UBS in April 2001 and became a board member in 2003. Before that time, since 1991, Sine had been global head of media investment banking at Morgan Stanley. His clients have included many of the leading global media, technology, and communications companies, including Viacom, Google, Time Warner, News Corporation, Sony, Bertelsmann, Comcast, Cox Communications, Thomson, Softbank, Microsoft, AT&T, Disney, and many others. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Sine was an attorney at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York and London. He is a current or past board member of the Manhattan Theatre Club, International Radio and Television Society, Museum of Television and Radio Media Center, University of Southern California–Annenberg School of Communication/Law Center Joint Venture, Educational Testing Service, and American University. He has also produced many plays and musicals over the past two decades on Broadway and in London’s West End and is a threetime Tony Award winner. Through Sine’s vision and generosity, AU REACH was established in 2015 to create a formalized program that exemplifies AU’s commitment to provide students with a variety of opportunities to engage with issues through academics, research, investigation, and personal experiences. Through AU REACH, students make meaningful contributions to communities or organizations at home and abroad, tapping into the university’s vast connections in DC and around the world. Sine earned a bachelor’s degree from AU, where he serves as a member of the Board of Trustees and is a past chair of the board. He also holds a JD from the University of Southern California. He lives in New York City with his wife Samira and three children, Roan, Shailen, and Maya.
