90th Anniversary Celebration/Annual Conference – Register Online!
Registration Deadline is June 13, 2008.

NOTE: Those wishing off-campus housing are reminded to make hotel reservations
ASAP. All of the details regarding the weekend schedule for the 90th Celebration
including workshops, presentations, a dance, the Alumni Assembly, hotel information
and many more opportunities can be found at:

Combat Stress: Understanding the Challenges, Preparing for the Future –
June 26-28, 2008
Registrations filling up!
Only a few seats remain for this timely conference focusing on the mental health
needs and practice approaches for soldiers, veterans and their families including the
complexity of their situations (e.g. traumatic brain injury, polytrauma, suicide
prevention, PTSD and secondary trauma). Caregiving challenges for family members
and clinicians, the role of spirituality and community support are included as well. The
conference is free of charge to any U.S. veteran or current member of the military. For

Contemplative Clinical Practice: An Advanced Certificate Program in
Spirituality and Social Work Practice –
October 2-5, 2008 and April 23-26, 2009
Now in its second year, the Contemplative Clinical Practice Certificate deepens the
clinician’s awareness of the sacred dimension of his/her work by exploring his/her own
religious histories and spiritual practices, the clients’ spiritual beliefs and practices, and
the clinical relationship itself. For program and registration information go to:

Calling all Alumni - Volunteers Needed
Would you be willing to serve as a contact for prospective students who want to know if
Smith is the right place for them? Or, would you be willing to help a recent graduate
make connections in your geographic area? Each year, alumni are surveyed to identify
volunteer interests. The form has to be done every year as circumstances change and
we can not assume that willingness and ability to perform a specific activity will carry
over year after year. This year, we are cutting down on printing expenses and making
the form available online. There are many ways to be involved and help support the
