Eastman School of Music Symposium July 2014 By Joseph Baldwin Thanks to Sherrerd Center sponsorship, I was able to attend a terrific workshop at the Eastman School of Music in the summer of 2014. This week in Rochester was vital in my development as a conductor and teacher. During my time at Eastman, I interacted with other musicians on the subject of performance practice of Baroque era music, specifically the Bach motets. The most crucial component was discussions and demonstrations of how to teach this performance practice to students of all ages; I've already been able to incorporate these aspects into my time at Smith. I'm very grateful to the center for its continued support of my professional development.
