The basic function of this position is to provide fire assay analysis skills to the SimuLab fire assay section. The incumbent is responsible for the analysis of routine client samples according to the requirement of the SimuLab quality system. Assist the Fire Assay Foreman for evaluation of customer quality control results prior to reporting. The incumbent is expected to assist in “basic” training of fire assay of personnel. Identify essential functions of the job with an asterisk (*). 65% Undertake routine fire assay analysis of customer samples in accordance with the requirements of the SimuLab quality system.* 15% Preliminary evaluation of quality control data prior to passing results to the Fire Assay Foreman for reporting.* 10% Assist as required with basic training of fire assay personnel.* 5% Assist the Fire Assay Foreman order consumables to ensure that goods are received “just in time”. 5% Perform other related duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily. Educational Requirements (Include certificates, licences and/or registrations required.) 1. Year 10 education. Experience Requirements 1. At least 2 years fire assay experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. 2. Current drivers license. Current forklift license desirable. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: (Work environment characteristics described including hazards that may be encountered while performing the essential functions of the job.) Exposure to high temperatures with the use of fusion and cupellation furnaces. Exposure to lead within the work environment, lead levels will be monitored for all personnel at risk. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Physical demands detailed here are representative of those that must be met for an employee to successfully perform essential functions.) Employees within this area are expected to pour high temperature fusions (five [5] at a time), although equipment used in the process is “state–of-the-art” the job function requires a good degree of dexterity and strength.
